Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The time of day was night far after many warriors had been done with their duties. Whether they were hoping to find romance, flings, someone to have kits with, or are already disappointed by the turn out and want to go home the two were there and now it was time for conversations to fly. They only had 10 minutes and three partners to choose from so it’s best to ask and answer all the right questions to get to know the other.
Each speed round had a separate area for the two cats to talk. This particular speed round took place a few yards from the meeting grounds at the top of a grassy hill, but it was the starry view above them that truly stole the show. There was a meteorshower out this time of night sending flashes of silver shooting across the open night sky. Despite being out in the open the summer breeze that sailed past them felt warm and inviting.

Despite being a Primal Instinct cat, Hywel was friendly from the start. He wasn't like his sister, whos creed was often 'take first, ask later.' The tom gave Amberbird a faint smile. He had never really done this 'speed dating' thing before, despite the many flings he'd get involved with on the way to the city.
"So, uh," he started with a chuckle, "tell me, what's something you don't get to brag about much?"
Amberbird, an ever anxious, quiet, stuttering, shy tom, was sitting there shuffling in his seat as his gaze darted from the sky to the cat before him to the ground and repeated. "Hel-hel-hello...." Something he didn't get to brag about? Well, nothing really. Amberbird left his life as FallClan' medicine cat to live the happy and content life of a kittypet. Then was kidnapped from there by WinterClan to train their Witch in the ways of healing. The only reason he was here right now was that he'd left with the excuse of finding herbs. "Um....I..I was a-a med-medicine cat o-once.... IT was by far his more interesting position, at least most cats seemed to think so.

All right, the cat was shy, or at least, had a bit of a stutter. Hywel didn't judge much; he had always been a social chameleon type anyway. "Medicine cat, huh?" he mused. He didn't really know what that meant, having never stayed in the clans before, but he assumed it was in the name. Sort of like the shaman. Interesting. "So you must know a lot about the plants around us, huh?" he asked, intrigued, before smiling to himself, "I've always wondered...where I'm from we used to have sacred trees. Do you have things like this in this forest?"
He doesn't know this forest. Was he supposed to know this forest? It wasn't FallClan territory or the old washed-out area of EarthClan so the tom had no idea. Eyes widening in worry and fright at getting the answer wrong, he searched around him, darting from one plant to another hoping to find something. "I..I don-don't kno-know....." Maybe there was something like that around here? But Amberbird has no idea. The meteor shower above caught his attention. "May-maybe one of th-those...those could-could hit nea-near by?"

Hywel seemed a little bit disappointed that this wasn't an opportunity to learn about the cats and their cultures around here, but then again, he didn't expect everyone to know everything. He supposed he'd have to just deal with that; he gave the other tom a shrug, as if saying no worries at all, before glancing up to the sky at his direction.
It was true, the stars were beautiful. He had seen the occasional shooting star more than once, but a meteor shower was rare, even in the highlands. "Do you think so?" he mused with a grin that didn't reflect the grim reality of the possibility Amberbird spoke about, "don't you think it's kind of wonderful? How stars look when they're falling to the earth? I wonder what they really are...whether you'll be able to find something special where it lands."
Amberbird shrugged, chancing another glance at the cat before him, he was handsome and seemed friendly, but that did cause Amberbird to feel any more comfortable than before. He'd always been awkward until he truly got to know someone so really it wouldn't be a surprise if it was moons before he could complete a single sentence without stuttering near the cat. Somedays he still stuttered around his own family, though it'd been moons since he'd seen any of them. Watching the falling stars he wondered about them. About how they were doing in FallClan. If they were all well and happy, or if something had happened since he left and became a kittypet and then was kidnapped from his life as a kittypet. "It-t's a won-wonderful sig-sight at at least......"

He nodded at the other tom's words, noticing that he was still rather nervous. He had never been good with initiating things; he was a comeback type of cat, after all, all snarky comments and stupid jokes. He gave Amberbird a smile, though he seemed uncertain of what to say. Small talk was small talk, but he had always been horrible at starting it.
"Why don't we do a question sort of game?" he suggested, "I'll ask you something and you can ask me something back....and if at the end of it all, you're still interested, we can see where it goes, hm?"
(we've each got one more reply for the speed dating thing since it's supposed to be 5 posts each. I actually found someone to be Amberbird's fling for his plot, and he's very unlikely to take someone as his mate that doesn't accept that he prefers the kittypet lifestyle and will be happily rejoining that lifestyle once he's released from WinterClan's hold. I could see them being a cute long-distance relationship if your down, especially since PI is right near the city and thus the kittypets. He's demisexual so it'll take a bit before he develops actual feelings so it'd be cool for a friends-to-lovers thing. Maybe it starts as a fling for Hywel, then they become friends and finally lovers? He'll be having a fling while he's in WinterClan that'll result in kits, but they'll more than likely stay in WIC. Since he'll still in wic a little while longer, so we can do a reunion fling thread later if you'd like? We can end this thread with them walking off in search of shooting stars that might have hit the ground lol) achromatic
Amberbird nodded his head, unsure how this was going to go but willing to try it out. Better than sitting here all awkward like at least. The dark storm grey tom shuffled on his paws, surprising himself when he stuttered out in a rapid-fire question something he'd wondered since learning he'd be on a date with a Primal Instinct cat. "Hav-have you eve-ever killed-killed any-anyone?" He flushed afterward ready to start apologizing for his question, but it'd been burning in him for some time now. The curiosity was killing him and also setting him on edge. He had never killed anyone, had barely killed a piece of prey before crying those first few moons he was a warrior apprentice before becoming a medicine cat apprentice. Amberbird's sister Seablossom had always told him it was because he was too kind, but in reality it's more likely because he's terrified of nearly everything. Especially the idea of killing something or someone.

(tbh I actually have an end-game with Hywel at the moment because my end game for him is that he's going to die at the end of a plot LOL and it's going to send shockwaves~~ to a bunch of other characters, so he's good for a fling but not so much for anything exclusive/lovers at the moment sorry! I'm not sure if there's anything else you have planned?)
He had expected first questions to sort of go like "what kind of prey do you like?" or "what was your first kiss?" but that...his eyes immediately met Amberbird's, surprise written across his face, before the range of emotions seemed to cross his expression. Surprise that quickly turned to an expression of distrust, suspicion that quickly disappeared into a look that could almost be described as haunted, and finally a tired look over the other cat's face, as if deciding whether to trust him...and finally, to the stony apathy that seemed to darken the blue of his eyes.
"Yes," he replied with a shrug, as if answering a yes or no question about something as simple as whether he had ever been to the seaside or something like that, "have you ever been past the mountains?" He had immediately deflected, leaving no room for explanation. This had never been a story he liked to tell, and as far as he knew, the only cat who knew the extent of his actions in the past was his sister. It was a secret held by those who had lived in the loch and no one more.
(darn nah that's all I had for them at the moment. oh well figured i'd toss the idea at ya at least) achromatic
Amberbird nodded his head, a blush having formed on his face moments after asking his question. "Ye-yeah...I was-was born in Ea-EarthClan." He could remember some things from his first home, but he'd been a young apprentice when the Great Flood happened. Since then, he'd lived in FallClan, was then trapped in a twolegs nest (happy about it in the end), and then kidnapped and whisked off to WinterClan to train Roseshade in the healing arts. He thought about asking something else but then couldn't bring himself to do so since his last question wasn't really taken well. So, he just sat there, fidgeting and anxious for this date to be over. He'd ruined it, and knew it.

(ah no worries then!)
"EarthClan huh?" Hywel mused. He had heard of most of the clans, but that one was one of the few he hadn't heard a single mention of. He had assumed by now that most of them were named after the seasons or the positions of the sun. "What was that like? EarthClan...I haven't heard of it."
