Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Primordialhazeracerbrightleaf in this thread, Bleakwind and Bruniaberry will give an introductory course of starclan and healing to Turbulentpaw and Brightpaw, the two newly chosen healers of NightClan. This will serve as an introduction to the pair being medicine cats.)
Bleakwind sat in the clearing he had asked, Bruniaberry, Brightpaw and Turbulentpaw to meet him in. He looked up at the stars, and let out a breath. He closed his eyes and welcomed StarClan's presence. Asking them for guidance. He was not a medicine cat himself, but he'd always had a strong connection to his ancestors. So he focused on that connection and asked for them to give him the words, the wisdom to help guide these two young cats to achieving a connection with StarClan.
Bruniaberry had been unable to connect with their starry ancestors and Bleakwind wanted to avoid that befalling the young cats. Bruniaberry had taken it hard, and she'd already been a warrior before, for the two young cats... being unable to connect to their ancestors might crush them.

HAS BEEN SUMMONED BY THE ALMIGHTY JET
Bruniaberry joined Bleakwind in the clearing. The black faced warrior flicked her tail in greeting as she took a seat next to the older tom. "Afternoon Bleakwind." she meowed. Since her disturbing experience as a medicine cat, Bruniaberry's usually quick and sharp personality had dulled to that of a cat who went about her day to day business just existing not much else. She still offered assistance with her herbal knowledge when necessary.
(I SUMMON THEE PRIMORDIALHAZE- Oh you're here, wonderful! XP)
Bleakwind turned to her, "Bruniaberry, thank you for coming. Your herbal knowledge will be a great boon to have so we can teach these youngsters." He said. Though his eyes were sympathetic. He understood how much it had hurt her to be denied by StarClan. "You know, I saw that squirrel you brought in the other night, it was quite plump, the queens were quite pleased. It was enough to feed Burningstar's rather large litter of adopted kits." He said, trying to raise her spirits a bit. Though she might not be a medicine cat, she was still a good warrior. She needed to know this.

Turbulentpaw looked over at the newly names Brightpaw as the walked to the designated meeting place. She seemed nervous, as he sent up a silent prayer to StarClan to help ease her fears. They were going to learn, and it would difficult for her if she could not quell her fears. He was a little nervous himself, but for a different reasons. StarClan had chosen him and Birghtpaw to be the clan's next medicine cat, so he did not fear rejection or the disapproving looks from their clan-mates. Instead he feared that that he would not live up to the hopes that had been placed upon his shoulders. As he and Brightpaw reached where the two older cats were waiting, he dipped his head respectfully. It was meant to be a noble gesture, although it was rather clumsy and awkward due to his long legs and boney frame. "We are here to learn"

Bruniaberry purred softly. "Yes I do hope they slept with full bellies. That Bonfirekit can eat nearly an entire mouse himself now." She stopped and turned her attention as Turbulentpaw arrives. "Welcome." She meowed her gaze shifting.

Brightpaw followed closely behind Turbulentpaw. Thank StarClan I'm not late, thanks to Turbulentkit-- er paw...
The air was brisk, a puff of smokey air came from her muzzle. Her belly twisted and churned as they approached Bruniaberry and Bleakwind. She hadn't felt a true connection to StarClan, only a few dreams with those who had passed, but only those related to her. She tail tip twitched at the thought. As she and Turbulentpaw approached the older cats, Turbulentpaw awkwardly bowed to the both. This took her so off guard, she couldn't help but give a mrrrow of laughter.
She sat down at curled her tail over her paws and gave the both a small dip of her head rather than the bow his Clanmate had given.

He felt a little embarressed, but he wanted to show the two older cats that them agreeing to teach him and Brightpaw meant a lot. NightClan needed a medicine cat, and he hoped that the two of them would be what the clan needed. This was his chance to be the hero for once.
Bleakwind chuckled, in response to Bruniaberry's comment. "That he does." He agreed before turning to refocus on Turbulentpaw returning his bow with one in return. "Welcome Brightpaw and Turbulentpaw, I am honored that we will be able to pass on the skills of herbs and give you a glimpse into StarClan's mysteries." He nodded to Bruniaberry. "Bruniaberry is a very talent healer and very skilled with herbs, and I've dabbled a bit myself. But while most of her lessons will be primarily focused on healing and using herbs, I will focus on StarClan. Now of course, Burningstar is working to make an arrangement with DayClan, so that way their medicine cats can bridge the gaps to help you fully establish a connection with StarClan. But I'm here to help in the interim, and to keep Bruniaberry from having to train two cats at once."
He sat down, "But first let's start with getting to know each other. Why don't you tell me what being a medicine cat means to you?" He asked looking between Brightpaw and Turbulentpaw.

Brightpaw piped up first. "It means you not only take care and nurture the cats in your clan, you act as a bridge for StarClan and the clan and your leader!" She was kind of proud of that response, she had been rehearsing it in her head and was hoping that it was right.

Turbulentpaw didn't want to lie, so he decided to be honest. "I never thought about being a medicine cat honestly. It has always been my dream to be a hero, a cat that others could look up to. I thought I would do that by being the best warrior in the clan, but I guess StarClan had others plans for me. I'm actually glad that I was chosen. Anyone can be a warrior, but not everyone gets to be a medicine cat. This is my chance to prove myself, to do something great for NightClan"
Bleakwind nodded, "That's a very good definition of what a medicine cat is Brightpaw, and I appreciate your honesty Turbulentpaw. That's what being a medicine cat is, it's understanding your duties and making sure they come to harmony with your own desires. Medicine cats are more than just their job description, the position is as you said Brightpaw, bridging between StarClan and the clan and leader. And you're right Turbulentpaw it's an important role that will garner notice from the clan. Recognizing what you want out of it can help shape how you will handle the position. Sometimes being medicine cat isn't glorious, sometimes it's dealing with elders ticks, while holding some mousebile. OR dealing with all the struggles of cleaning up and caring for sick cats. It's important to understand what the job entails, and trying to harmonize it with your own strengths. It's not all glorious prophecies and the like, it's struggling with cats who are hurting. Who are sick. Who are weak. And even I don't know all that being a medicine cat will entail in it's entirety, but Bruniaberry and I will do everything we can to make sure you're ready."
"I'm thinking we will take a trip to the mooncreek," Bleakwind said, "Though I am not a medicine cat, Bruniaberry was and I feel that if we all go together and present you to them, and have you meet them for the first time. It'll give you an idea of the gravity of what you're getting into."

Turbulentpaw dipped his head, carefully listening to the other cats words. Sure it wasn't always glorious, but neither was being a warrior. THere were times when warriors had to repair dens, get ticks of elders, stand guard, and more. So the less glorious side of being a medicine cat didn't bother him either. No one could be a hero all the time, but even if he couldn't be the clan hero perhaps he could be a hero to a few. Those that he would spend countless night's by their sides, to the kits with thorns in their paws, to the queens whose kits he might save. That would be enough for him, at least he thought it would be enough for him.
He wasn't nervous about meeting StarClan, he was more excited. They were the ones that stories were told about, a chance to meet the cats that the clan idolized in life. A slow grin spread across his face, "Hopefully they will look past the strangeness of our situation"
"Considering that according to what I heard from Burningstar, and that they chose you themselves, I imagine they're expecting you actually," Bleakwind said whiskers twitching, he was glad to see that it looked like Turbulentpaw had taken his words to heart, while not becoming disheartened. It was a good sign. He glanced towards Brightpaw. "Though I've had my strong faith in StarClan I have yet to meet them, but I know they're always watching. Always observing and urging us on. Though they leave us to live our own lives and make our own choices and mistakes."

That was true, StarClan had chosen them. It was important to keep that in mind, for he was sure that their journey to becoming a medicine cat was not going to be an easy one. Surely they wouldn't turn either of them away after sending Burningstar a dream about them becoming NightClan's next medicine cat.

Brightpaw's stomach twisted at the thought. She was going to meet StarClan? What if they didn't show up or never would? She didn't want to end up like Bleakwind, though she respected him immensely.
"Are you sure they'll show up? What if they don't take us seriously? IS THIS A TEST?" She fretted.
"It's not a test, it's the first step," Bleakwind said. "Most medicine cats when they are first taken on, get introduced to StarClan, there's a whole ceremony I believe." Bleakwind said. "And then StarClan will meet with you. And considering this special case, I think it's especially important."
"Mooncreek is a bit far, so we'll have to go gather some traveling herbs, but then once we're ready we'll be able to head out on our way." Bleakwind said.

He closed his eyes trying to imaging what moon creek would look like. He had heard stories,but most cats couldn't really explain it. He nodded "I am ready"
Bleakwind began to head back over to a hollowed tree, where he and Bruniaberry had set aside some traveling herbs. "Though it'd be a good opportunity to familiarize yourselves with more herbs, to get to Mooncreek in a timely manner to speak with StarClan, it's best we head out now."

Turbulentpaw ate the herbs dutifully, careful not to show the disgust on his face. It tasted terrible, but he knew that he would be grateful for them later.
