She snorted. "You laugh now but let me just say that it was actually on a patrol that time," she snorted, "not to mention...there's just so many herbs in there, you know? I'm serious, they have the best thyme and lavender, ones without any bugs on it at all! I bet the witch has some kind of magic that makes it extra good, you know?" She giggled at his terrible impression, before giving Foxfable that look, the one with a raised brow that almost looked like she was about to burst into a laugh. "I'll be surprised if Cypresspaw doesn't call me the worst mentor he'll ever have," she joked.
If Foxfable pondered on Sunveins' words, she certainly didn't do the same. Perhaps there was a kindness in being the one who fretted over everyone; she never thought too hard about mortality until it hit. There was still a certain naivete in Sunveins; she had yet to find herself in the inevitable space of being unable to save a life, and perhaps that innocence still protected her like a shield. She didn't seem to notice the way Foxfable dealt with mortality; she didn't notice the hesitation, the way his ears drooped and his eyes seemed lost in thought. She only gave him a smile at the soft touch, as she nuzzled him gently, a sign of her acknowledgment.
"I wouldn't want to miss a moment either," she replied with a soft purr. At his cough, her mind finally drifted to his condition, for a moment, also dwelling on the mortality query he had been stuck on moments before. It renewed her vigor, her need for answers. She was going to figure it out, figure out how to help Foxstar and his immune system, as much as she could. It was why she became a medicine cat, after all. She'd keep him safe, as much as she could.
